This film captures the efforts of London’s Royal Free Hospital Trust to get services back up and running in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The film explores the longlasting psychological effects of covid, as well its significant structural impact on the NHS, which has meant that countless vital operations have been delayed. I filmed with Jonathan, a senior Emergency Department Consultant who is one of many staff members who have re-assessed their priorities and decided to leave the health service.

I also filmed the extraordinary case of a woman who is rushed into the Royal Free’s Infectious Diseases unit with a rare tropical virus called Lassa Fever, prompting a major operation to lock down sections of the hospital and triggering in the staff memories of the first wave of covid.
