About Me

I’m Dan, a documentary director and producer who puts his own stamp on films for places like the BBC, Channel 4, Amazon and Netflix.

I am experienced at directing on leading documentary series as well as on single films, and I’m lucky enough that my job has taken me all over the world. Wherever I am, and whatever I’m working on, I pride myself on being able to build lasting relationships with people in extraordinary situations, and to tell their stories imaginatively. I have an ability to spot off-beat, interesting stories, as well as an excellent understanding from my time in the edit of how to put them together into good films.

I film creatively to a high standard on a range of cameras including the Canon C300 and Sony FS7/FX9. I come with a proven track record of negotiating access to places that are difficult to get into, and working sensitively with people in some of the most challenging times of their lives.

I always support the people around me when I’m making a film and try to get the best out of them, so that we can all make something that is provocative, honest and important.

I’m always looking to make films about people going through incredible things, so I’d love to hear from you.
