“24 Hours in Police Custody has been around for nearly five years now. It’s never less than fascinating, but this was an episode that felt urgent and important… and laid bare the grim truth about the wave of knife attacks that
has engulfed Britain.”

I spent over a year and a half working on 24 Hours in Police Custody, the series which has set the standard for true crime in the UK.

During my time on Custody I learned an awful lot, and was promoted from Assistant Producer to DV Director and then Senior Story Producer. I filmed and directed a lot, generated stories which were then made into episodes and took several of these into the edit. I negotiated access to several key police departments, broadening the scope of the series, and filmed astonishing interviews with those accused of crimes and their victims.

I worked with Producer/Director Alice McMahon-Major on one of the series’s highest rated episodes - Knifed - which tells the twin stories of a knife attack in a shopping mall and the senseless murder of 18-year-old Azaan Kaleem in broad daylight. The film was widely acclaimed and screened in Parliament.
